Have you heard the joke about the Nun and the blind man?

Well there was a nun having a bath and a knock at the door.

“Who’s there?” she said.

“The blind man” he said.

Realising that he couldn’t see her she said “come in”.

The door opens and she see a man standing in the doorway with a tool belt and blind in hand.

The moral of the story, if we can call it a moral. Make sure you communicate your point clearly.

The purpose of this post is to communicate the problems you maybe facing with your windows and the blinds that will revolutionise your life.

The main problem, blinds solve is managing light - whether that be filtering it in living areas, or blocking it out in bedrooms. If you work night shifts, putting (and keeping) children to sleep, sleeping in the light evenings and mornings in the summer and the psychological benefit - which I’ll elaborate on more later.

A blackout roller blind will revolutionise your life; you will get better quality sleep, which we all know is one of the keys to being productive and happy.

We are all, as adults recommended by the NHS, to have 7-9 hours of quality sleep a night and for children it is crucial they have 8-14 hours sleep a night for their development.

Did you know that research has found that after 17 hours without sleep, our alertness is similar to the effect of having a blood alcohol level of 0.05% which would be consider over the legal limit to drive by UK Law. This extensive sleep study was conducted by the University of Oxford.

We’ve covered one of the purposes of window blinds, the next is managing privacy. The solutions are Vertical Blinds, Sheer Roller Blinds, Wooden and aluminium Venetian Blinds.

Many of my customers need blinds because they are over looked by other houses, have a foot path running by or know some really nosey people.

These blinds will revolutionise your life, you can now go about making your fourth piece of toast, without Mrs Jones seeing and the whole neighbourhood knowing before you take the first bite.

There is also a phycological aspect, I have had a customer who prior to their new blinds - felt they couldn’t use their conservatory. Firstly because the windows, effectively made black walls in the evening - which doesn’t feel the nicest. Secondly because, even if you know no-one is out there, you can never shake the feeling of being watched if you can’t see out. Finally because the blinds helped to manage the temperature, because it was too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter - which I will go onto talk about in a minute. Their new blinds managed all there factors, which meant they had gained a whole extra room in their house. Which based on current house prices correlates to around £15,000.00, so the blinds defiantly paid for themselves.

The hot topic of the moment sustainability and cost of energy, thermal Roller blinds and pleated blinds. These blinds work by reflecting the light and heat, either by smart threads, weaved through the fabric or by a coat of ACS Atlantic paint (which was rumoured to be developed by NASA). This provides a barrier to keep the heat in during the winter.

18% of heat is lost through the windows, you can feel it as you get closer to the window you can feel a cold spot. I may have just solved 98% of super natural experiences, they just needed a speak to the blind experts about a thermal blind.

With the insulation that our thermal blinds provide, you should be able to turn down your thermostat - even by a couple of degrees between 22 and 18, according to a study by UCL conducted over the 12 mouths of 2021 and the saving based on the October 2022 price cap. You would save £130 per degree on an average home, annual heating bill. Which would mean the blind would have easily paid for itself, if not it would be making you money.

I hope you have a better idea of what blinds there are and which would help you. Give the blind experts at Alexandria’s Blinds a ring for your window blind solution today and save yourself the miscommunication.

Who do you know that needs blinds?
